We often put a lot of effort into expanding our health, happiness, and intelligence but don’t give our sexual energy much attention, which is ironic, because our society is so sex-obsessed. And yet, we lack a connection with our body and our sexuality.

Here’s the thing, our sexual energy is our life force energy. It is the most potent force. We come from sex. When we aren’t channeling it properly, it can affect us both physically and psychologicallyfrom a lack of creativity to feeling frustrated or having pelvic discomfort.

But we can do more with our sexual energy, than just being turned on. We can use it to achieve altered states of consciousness. And that’s where spirituality and sexuality meet.

Whether we dive into Eastern spiritual philosophy or Western European pagan traditions, many cultures throughout the world share a belief that the body is part of the path to the divine and not a distraction from the sacred.

THE TANTRIC PATH

Even though we are now starting to use the word “Tantra” in every way possible, it isn’t a new concept. It originated five or six thousand years ago in India.

The word “Tantra” finds its root in the word “Tan,” which means “whole.” “Tantra” itself in Sanskrit means “to weave.”

Tantra is a life path. It combines many teachings, and sexuality is only a fragment of the practices. However, here in the West, we have chosen to make it our focus since many have written books about the subject.

For most people, sexuality is the highest level of ecstasy they have ever encountered; therefore, pleasure through sexuality is the only possibility they can imagine. In reality, you can feel an orgasmic state with every cell of your body by merely tuning in—it doesn’t have to be sexual.

At its essence, Tantra is about opening your heart and moving energy in the body through conscious awareness. It’s about the connection with oneself, presence, and tapping into a higher dimension of consciousness.

THE TAOIST PATH

Originally, Taoism was a philosophy and tradition that originated in China. There was a lot of secrecy around the teachings. Only a select few were taught the practices. Often, they were forbidden to write down the instructions, and it was solely an oral tradition.

Taoism is a way of life more than a religion. It is a comprehensive physical and spiritual system created to help individuals reach their highest potential.

The word “Tao” means “path” or “way.” In its essence, it talks about embracing life in the now and being in harmony with nature and oneself.

The Taoists created a system that taught people how to channel sexual energy to improve health, longevity, and achieve spiritual realization. They have great practices that transform sexual energy into creative power.

Both in Tantra and Taoism, you achieve spiritual growth by using your sexual energy.

THE SEXOLOGICAL BODYWORK PATH

Sexological Bodywork stands at the crossroad between erotic massage and sex therapy. It is a unique modality that is not based upon any religion but a combination of cutting-edge modalities. Its goal is to expand one’s sexual expression.

This California state-certified profession began in 2003.

It is a body-based approach that combines touch, movement, pelvic release, breathwork, and sex coaching to facilitate sexual healing and authentic sexual expression.

We welcome orgasms, ejaculation, tears, laughter, sensuality, and eroticism. Ultimately, we celebrate them as part of the liberation journey.

We focus on channeling your natural energy and talents in ways that will make your relationships thrive with increased pleasure and connection.

YOUR BODY IS THE KEY

Human sexuality fascinates us. The more morals, judgments, and restrictions we place on it, the more dysfunctions we see. The path is to stop fighting our nature and accept that sexuality is the beginning of life.

Within the practices of ancient cultures lie answers that modern science is just beginning to understand. The techniques are not just for mystics or “free spirits.” They are for anyone who wants to take intimacy to the next level.

Take the time to explore your sexual self.

When we feel fulfilled in our sexuality, we have so much more energy to give.
